Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations.  Oversee assigned student activities and services.  Serve as campus testing coordinator and LPAC coordinator.

 

Serve as campus testing coordinator in order to perform a variety of professional, supervisory, technical, and administrative tasks in order to:

 

Serves as Coordinator and facilitator of RISDs Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) and TELPAS:

 

Serve as campus MTSS/RtI and HB 4545 Coordinator

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master’s Degree Preferred

Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

ESL or Bilingual Certification Preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Mangement

  1. Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate. Participate in program evaluation measures and make suggestions for improvement where needed.
  2. Reinforce expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies and classroom management.
  3. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.

School/Organizational Improvement

  1. Take a leadership role in planning activities and implementing programs to ensure attainment of the school’s mission.
  2. Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  3. Help the principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain records and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.

Student Management

  1. Conduct conferences about student and school issues with parents, students and teachers.
  2. Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  3. Conduct meetings with students and parents as needed for the purpose of maintaining compliance with LPAC requirements and MTSS/HB 4545 requirements.
  4. Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.

Personnel Management

  1. Assist principal in training and overseeing staff compliance with best practices for EB students, test security, required LPAC paperwork and required HB 4545 and MTSS paperwork. 
  2. Assist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  2. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  5. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.

School/Community Relations

  1. Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  2. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  2. Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Other

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise and evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school principal.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
